R600 should start selling in May. At that time Nvidia will come out with two new cards. We already mentioned one that might be called Geforce 8850GX2, a dual G80 card and you can read all about it here.
The second one as you can guess is the Geforce 8850GTX which is the faster clocked version of the G80 chip. We know it will end up clocked at faster speed than 600 MHz and that it will certainly make R600 run for its money.
We are not sure about the memory type but it might be even equipped with some high speed GDDR4 memory. We just know that Nvidia told its partner not to worry and that five month after the original G80 they have a real deal. It will be interesting to see how this turns out and we believe that Nvidia won't launch the new cards before ATI launches its R600.
Nvidia had an electrical problem with the early batch of 8600 GTS. This is now history and Nvidia replaced the damaged part on all of the boards.
This won't affect the launch at all. The issue was a nasty one. It would shut down your PC after benchmarking for a while. The component is changed and Nvidia partners are getting new cards with the replaced part.
This is nothing that should concern the end users as the cards you buy after 17th will be completely trouble free at least when it comes to this issue.
We believe that Geforce 8600 will be a very successful unit and Nvidia has high hopes for this DirectX 10 chip.

V takom rozliseni to karta ani nepociti... ide to cca 115fps priemerne s 3.2Ghz e6400
Zaujimala by ma jedna vec. Ocakavana 8600GTS by mala byt velmi dobrou kupou s vybornym pomerom cena/vykon. Ale pokial sa nemylim, tak bude existovat len s 256MB VRAM, nehovoriac o tom, ze bude 128bit... nebude toto pre nove narocne hry trosku problem...? pocitam s tym, ze vacsina hracov pouziva rozlisnenie 1280x1024 a viac... a slusne skore v 3DMarku2006 IMHO nepodava uplne realny obraz o vykone karty, ale to uz sa tu myslim preberalo...
To som rad, lebo uz som zacinal mat vazne obavy, kedze planujem kupu prave tejto grafiky... ale s 256MB VRAM by som ju aj vyhladom na moj 20"Wide LCD nekupoval...
