Club 3D uvádí přetaktovaný Radeon HD 5850

Club 3D pracuje na této nové kartě pocházející ze série Overclocked. Podporuje DirectX 11 a CrossFireX. Má dvouslotový chladič se čtyřmi heatpipe, 1440 Stream procesorů, 256bitovou paměťovou sběrnici. K dispozici jsou HDMI, DisplayPort a dva DVI výstupy.
Takty jsou 760 Mhz pro jádro, oproti referenčním 725 Mhz a 4200 Mhz pro 1 GB GDDR5 paměti, výchozí takt je 4000 Mhz. Přibalena je poukázka na Dirt 2, nicméně cena ani datum vydání této karty nebyly oznámeny.

Ako tak na to kukam, tak k poctu SPs mi nesedi pocet texturovacich jednotiek. Pri deaktivacii 4 SIMD blokov by ich malo ostat 64.

ATI Radeon HD 5870 Eyefinity 6 card will arrive soon

We mentioned this card several tiems already, but for the uber gamer and more likely profession users in need of massive multi-monitor setups ATI is going to release the the Radeon HD 5870 Eyefinity 6 edition, apparantly next month. ATI Radeon HD 5870 Eyefinity 6 edition is concerned, this product will make its official debut on March 11, just after the end of the show in Hannover, Germany.

Not the “5890”
It turns out our well informed sources weren't that well informed after all.
This is a new card from ATI but it's not the faster HD 5870.
It is an HD 5870 that can take care of six displays.
The official name is ATI Radeon HD 5870 Eyefinity 6 Edition and the card will launch after Cebit.
The exact date is March 11th and as you can imagine this card will go after Matrox multi-display solutions rather than Nvidia's Fermi based GTX 480.
Since we don’t know too many people with six monitors this card will definitely be interesting, but it won’t make a huge difference in the high end market.

Well, the German magazine GameStar contains a review already.
Their numbers don't quite make sense though: According to them, the card has 1280 SP/64 TMU as predicted, and even a core clock of 800, not 750.

Now with those specs, I would expect the gap between 5830 and 5850 to be rather small, clearly smaller than the gap between 5850 and 5870. But according to their benchmarks, the opposite is true. Granted, they tested only Crysis in DX10 and Dirt 2 in DX9, but in those tests, the card was much slower than the 5850, slower than the GTX 285, even slower than the GTX 275 and just about the same as the 4890, and not all that much faster than a 5770.

These results are puzzling at best. Only 160SP/8TMU less than a 5850, but same bandwidth and a ~10% higher core clock should result in a less than 10% difference normally (more like 5% IMO), but the real world difference is much bigger. In Crysis at 1920x1200 + 4xAA/16xAF the 5850 is a whopping 20% faster, for example. And the 5830 is only ~10% faster than a 4870 512MB here. Something is quite fishy about those scores... Either there's some driver problems, some throttling, or the cut ROPs and memory interface in half. Those are the only reasons I can think of that would put some sense into these numbers. Neither the number of SIMDs, nor the clock speeds can be the culprit(s) here.

tak HD 5890 alebo ako sa má ta karta volať by mala priniesť vyššie % zvýšenie frekvencie ako HD 4890 voči 4780ke.
škoda, že tá karta už nie je na trhu ale aspoň neskôr uvidíme o koľko viac Vcore bude treba oproti HD 5870ke/o koľko bude vyššia spotreba

už som to raz písal, do veľkej miery je to marketing
skoro každý čip má podobné tranzistory, aby mohol pracovať na vyššej pracovnej frekvnecii. nVidia má od G80 napr. "custom tranzistory", aby shader-core mohol bežať na vyššej frekvencii...
teda, viac-menej každý čip má decap ring, len nemusí mať tak veľa tranzistorov pre neho obetovaný ako to bolo v prípade RV790ky

GF100 má najpr. menšiu hustotu tranzistorov ako RV870, lebo by inak "zhorel" atď atď.
