At the end of this year, ATI will announce R680 for the enthusiast market, there wil be a R680 core, it is 55nm DX10 Unified Shader GPU. It supports CrossFire, HDMI, HDCP, UVD, PCIe 2.

In the performance sector, there is a new RV660/670. It is also 55nm, DX10 and has unified shaders, crossfire, HDMI, HDCP, UVC PCIe 2. This will probably sample in September and Production is expected to be in Jan 2008.

As for mainstream, an improved RV630 named RV635 will be available. This GPU is also 55nm, DX10 Unified shaders, CrossFire, HDMI, HDCP, UVD support and it is PCIe 2 compliant. Sampling is Sep 07 and Production is in Jan 08.

We first told you about R680 in our last AMD discrete graphics roadmap and it seems AMD is pushing real hard to launch it in January 2008. Apart from DX10.1, SM 4.1, PCIe 2.0 and UVD support, it also supports display port and next generation Crossfire. We learned that R680 has 320 stream processors like the R600 and supports double precision floating point. So effectively, R680 is an enhanced R600 with finer process technology and more features. CJ told us that R680 is clocked at 800Mhz+ and comes with 512MB or 1GB GDDR3 memories but we knew that R680 supports GDDR4 too. Most likely it will come with 512-bit memory interface. Along with R680, we should be seeing RV635 and RV620 replacing HD 2600 (RV630) and HD 2400 (RV610) respectively as well as HD 2950 Pro (RV670) to form a complete top to bottom line-up.

Posted today on a Dutch forum. There will be 2 versions of the RV670, Gladiator and Revival, both featuring a 256-bit memory interface. Both versions will be made on TSMC's 55nm process and feature 320 streamprocessors. Samples are expected in September with mass production in December. Launch will be at the end of 2007 or the beginning of 2008. It's gonna be a single slot solution, be fully DX10.1 compliant (and thus feature SM4.1) and PCIe 2.0. It will have HDMI/HDCP/Audio/UVD and of course next gen CrossFire. Gladiator will run at 825Mhz and 1.2Ghz GDDR4 (512MB) while Revival will run at 750Mhz core and 900Mhz mem (256/512).

RV670 supports DX 10.1

We learned one more thing about RV670 highly speculated chip. The new ATI’s hope will support DirectX 10.1 API and naturally it is completely backwards compatible with DirectX 10.0 and DirectX 9.

RV670 card to have 100W TDP

RV670 cards will have smaller PCBs and less complex compared to R600 cards and as RV670 is a mainstream card it will have to cost less than the high end PCB.

Our sources indicates that RV670 card will have 8 to 10 layer printed circuit boards and this will keep the cost of the cards on the acceptable level.

The same sources also have confirmed that the new chip will have TDP way under 100W and this certainly means that the new chip will be significantly cooler than the current ATI’s high end. One more time RV670 is mainstream but it should bring some performance close to the current high end.

Velavravny post... Neviem, ale nejak sa mi nechce verit, ze RV670 bude mat 320SPs ako R600. Akurat bude mat 2krat uzsiu zbernicu, ale to nebude Az take bolestne ak to NV dotiahne trosku frekvenciou RAM. RV670 nebude ovela slabsia ako R600 podla chyrov co koluju momentalne.

Neviem ci som nieco nepochopil, ale nVidia G92 aj ATi RV670 maju mat 256bit zbernicu , cize oproti R600 je 2x uzsia a nie 4x

tazko na to teraz odpovedat, ale hlave vykon bude musiet byt vyssi keD chce AMD/ATi konkurovat G92 (nVidia si je vykonom a konkurencie schopnostou G92 palety velmi ista - podobne ako pri vydani G80 <-> R600)
