nVidia Kepler - 2011
Re: nVidia Kepler - 2011

Re: nVidia Kepler - 2011
Meanwhile NVIDIA says it will deliver its next generation Kepler GPU architecture in 2012, At an ISC presentation by Nvidian Sumit Gupta, he estimated the new GPU will deliver about 5 DP gigaflops per watt, or maybe even better than that. "Kepler is going to be an amazing performance per watt GPU," he promised.
If NVIDIA maintains the same thermal envelope as the current Fermi-class devices (225-250 watts), then the Kepler GPUs will be well north of a double precision teraflop. In fact all three 2012 HPC accelerators look to top one DP teraflop, but it is unlikely that any will reach 2 teraflops. With that kind of performance parity, the competitive differentiators may be energy efficiency and ease of programming.

Re: nVidia Kepler - 2011
Tapeout maju za sebou, ostava iba doladit proces. The successor to Nvidia’s Fermi architecture, a certain GPU that goes by the name Kepler has already been taped out.
We have multiple sources to confirm that the new 28nm chip is alive and that it looks quite well. Nvidia didn't have any major obstacles with the first tape out, but naturally there is still a lot of work to seal the leakage, and make the chip generally better. This is nothing unusual for a new chip, and getting from 40nm to 28nm is definitely not a walk in a park.
Kepler naturally gets a lot of changes to Nvidia's GPU and you can imagine that with the same maximal TDP, you can squeeze significantly more transistor and get much more power.
The optimistic projection is to see Kepler in retail in Q4 2011 but some sources suggest that this won't actually happen this year, as TSMC needs a bit more time to make the 28nm more mature.
Current generation GPUs are already hitting the performance wall at 40nm and the industry has a lot riding on the 28nm process, but fear not. For the moment, both AMD and Nvidia seem to be on track and we might see the first 28nm chips by the end of the year, but mass availability comes a bit later. http://www.fudzilla.com/graphics/item/2 ... -taped-out
Vianoce budu pestre, Kepler vs Southern Islands..

edit 4.7.11
Ja viem, FUDzilla...
We got word that Kepler, Nvidia's successor to Fermi architecture and its first 28nm part won’t launch until Q1 2012.
Our sources from the Far East are telling us that it’s the maturity of the 28nm process is to blame and that the chip could theoretically make it to very late Q4 2011 launch, but sources close to company are telling them that it would not make much sense to launch it that late in the quarter.
ATI is still on schedule to launch its 28nm chip in 2011, other sources are telling us, and ATI’s chip will be affected by the same issues, mainly the poor yields of the 28nm process. Even if ATI launches in 2011, very late Q3 or first half of Q4 2011 were the dates that we’ve heard, the chip wont really be massively available until some point in 2012.
Transitioning to a new process in the graphics word is always painful, and it took TSMC a lot to go from 65nm to 40nm and now, they are again faced with a difficult transition to 28nm and bad yields for quarters to come.

Re: nVidia Kepler - 2011
kedy asi pridu na trh ? chcem v blizkej dobe skladat pc a neviem ci mam pockat na kepler a ive bridge
Re: nVidia Kepler - 2011
Tak v prípade Keplera musíš čakať aspoň ~3 mesiace. Nejaký presnejší odhad nie je zatiaľ známy.

Re: nVidia Kepler - 2011

Google translator napísal:The following names will be GPU codenamed both parties according to graphics card vendors, AMD is the next generation GPU family in the first quarter of 2012 "Southern Islands" (Southern Islands), PCIe 3.0 compatible version of They will market. NVIDIA is in the second quarter against the same, "Kepler" (Kepler) Generation "GK104" It is said that it plans to start migrating in PCIe 3.0. From the first NVIDIA's product roadmap for the past few years "GK100" then? Some people would think, which is currently in the product roadmap NVIDIA "GK100" does not exist, seems to be a dual GPU solution "GK110" seems to have been positioned on the flagship.
http://www.4gamer.net/games/132/G013252/20111027090/Babelfish napísal:Below, each GPU name becomes the development code name, but, according to the graphic card vendor authorized personnel, AMD PCIe 3.0 corresponding edition of the next generation GPU family “South ern Islands” (southern island) is with market throwing schedule during 2012 1st quarter. NVIDIA which confronts same 2nd quarter, it is said that it is the plan that it starts PCIe 3.0 movement with “GK104” “, of the Kepler” (Kepler) generation. From the point of view of the product road map of NVIDIA in here several years first with “GK100”? With the person who thinks it will be, but, as for this presently, “GK100” does not exist in the product road map of NVIDIA, is thought as the dual GPU solution it seems like because “GK110” is located the flag ship.
takže podľa nich ešte neskôr - 2.Q čo je už naozaj "trochu" neskoro...
